Tutoring hours:
Any day after school except Wednesdays

Late Work:

  • Any work not turned in when it is due will be considered. You may turn in LATE work until the day before the test on that material. For each day an assignment is late, it will be deducted by 10%.  I will not go lower than 50%. As long as you turn in the assignment, you will get credit for it. When you miss an assignment, you will be issued a ticket for tutoring after school. If you go and complete the assignment there and it gets signed by the supervising teacher, I will give you full credit.
  • The instructor also reserves the right to assign an alternative assignment if the answers to the original assignment have already been reviewed in class.
  • No additional assignments will be given to boost a grade.

Absent Policy

  • The previous day's agenda will be on the board. The absent student should look this over, and any papers that were passed out are in the absent bin.
  • Students have one day for each absence to turn work in. For example, if a student is absent on Tuesday and returns on Wednesday, Tuesday’s work is due on Thursday. If a student misses Tuesday and Wednesday, then work for both of those days is due the following Monday. There will be an absent file that you can go to and get any missed work. You must get notes from a classmate.
  • If a student is absent on the day the assignment or project is due, the assignment is due the first day the student returns. If the student is absent on test day, he/she/they is responsible for taking the test the day that he/she/they returns. It is the student’s responsibility to see me about taking the test.
  • Not all work can be made up. Sometimes we watch videos in class, conduct lab investigations, hold class discussions, and students are given credit for these activities. If a student misses class, they may not be able to make up the assignment. It is imperative for students to be in class every day. It is the responsibility of the student to collect all missed work.

Tardy Policy:

  • Students are expected to be in class when the bell rings, otherwise they are considered tardy. When the bell rings, students should be in their seats, with all their materials out and ready to work. Therefore, if a student hangs out in the hallway after the bell, they will be marked tardy. even though they may have been to class on time.
  • For every 5 unexcused tardies (came to class after the bell rings without a pass from a staff member), the student will receive at Saturday detention. Being tardy that many times is considered skipping because the student is not in class. They also lose any rewards for having leftover hallway passes at the end of the quarter.
  • The number of tardies a student has will reset at the beginning of the card marking.

Opportunities to Improve Quiz grades:

I believe that having the ability to retake a test is a good opportunity to improve your test score if you have undesired grade. Taking tests can be stressful, especially if you are in a bad mood on the test day. There are two options for students to improve a grade on a test or quiz: Test Retakes or Test Corrections. Both options have their pros and cons, and the expectations are listed. Students can choose one option to improve their grade, but cannot choose both. Students will have one week after the graded quiz is handed back to have the opportunity to improve their grade.

Test Retake expectations:

You are able to earn to the full points on the quiz if retaken.
- The highest score of the two tests will be honored
- You MUST follow the directions given to retake the test. I will deny you the retake if they are not followed.

When

- Students will allowed to retake the test/quiz one week after the test/quiz has been passed out.
- The test retake must be after school with a day discussed with Ms. Amey and the student.

How

- Must redo the incorrect problems on the graded test and have it done by the retake date
- Fill out a retake slip with the date, time and test name (located in the classroom or stapled to the test) and turn it in to Ms. Amey

Test Correction Expectations

Test corrections are an alternative to the test retakes. This can be useful if a student is unable to stay after school. However, the student will not be able to earn full points on the quiz. Instead, they will earn half the points they missed on the original.
Rules
- Student has one week after the quiz is handed back to the student to improve their grade
- Each incorrect problem from the quiz must be rewritten on a separate piece of paper
-- those problems should be redone, with the correct answers
-- you must have AT LEAST TWO COMPLETE SENTENCES next to the redone problem. These sentences should explain the error you made on the test and what you can do to correct it. This does not include the complete sentence a student has to write as part of their answer for word problems.
-- Turn in corrections with the original quiz

THESE EXPECTATIONS Must be followed to improve the grade!
